To me, a magical Negro must be an actual Negro with some kind of supernatural talent. Let&#039;s remember, Spike Lee coined this term to refer to Duncan&#039;s and Smith&#039;s roles in films that were popular that year. 

Freeman and Fisburne&#039;s work more aptly fit the &quot;Old Black Joe&quot; stereotype. An wizened, asexual black man whose helps white people on their journey. Freeman has made a career out of these types of roles, driving white folk to the Piggly Wiggly or helping them discover themselves and delivering them from melancholy.</description>
